Sharm el-Sheikh is Sinai's big resort city, around three hours' drive from the crossing — though most visitors simply fly straight into its airport. Resorts line kilometres of coast, alongside Naama Bay and its promenade, the Old Market and places that stay open late.

Underwater it's another league: Ras Mohammed National Park and the Straits of Tiran are world-famous dive sites, and many hotels have a reef you can snorkel straight off the jetty. Great for families, all-inclusive fans and divers.
