Beach huts and camps in Ras Shitan

If one place sums up Sinai for Israelis, it's Ras Shitan: Bedouin camps side by side on a tongue of rock reaching into the sea, about 40 minutes from the crossing. Huts, evening bonfires, and people who come back to the same camp year after year.

The shore is mostly rock with a few narrow patches of sand, so bring water shoes. The payoff is a reef that starts right at the waterline and some of the best snorkeling on this coast. The vibe is social and laid-back, popular with young crowds and groups of friends.
