The first ecolodge of its kind in Egypt. Founded by Sherif El Ghamrawy in 1986, Basata protects the environment in many different ways and supports the local community. Its concept and design are reflected in its name, which means "simplicity" in Arabic. Basata strives to create a simple, unique form of tourism with a relatively low impact on the environment and the local residents.
